Location: Elbow Lake is located in Grant County in West Central Minnesota. It is 18 miles south of Fergus Falls, and 32 miles west of Alexandria.

Elbow Lake is home to West Central Area Elementary North that includes grades Pre-K through sixth grade. Grades 7 – 12 go to WCA Secondary School in Barrett, seven miles to the south. It is an excellent school with average graduating class of about 60 students. Sports are conducted in the Heart of Lakes conference. Other extra-curricular activities such as band, choir, one act play, mock trial, knowledge bowl, school musical, FFA, and FCCLA.

Elbow Lake is the county seat of Grant County. There are many employment opportunities within government offices or private businesses. Elbow Lake has a strong main street of businesses that encourage most of the shopping to be done locally.
Prairie Ridge Hospital and Health Services has a hospital in Elbow Lake, and clinics in Elbow Lake, Evansville, Ashby, and Hoffman. Elbow Lake has full time ambulance services.
Pomme De Terre Lake is located five miles east of Elbow Lake. It is an 1,800 acre lake that has excellent fishing, and recreational boating. there also are dozens of other lakes within a half-hour drive of Elbow Lake.
What to do?
Tipsinah Mounds Golf Course is an excellent 18 hole golf course located just 7 miles east of Elbow Lake on Pomme De Terre Lake. Reasonable rates and forgiving layout makes it a great place for the recreational golfer. Pebble Lake Golf Course is located south of Fergus Falls, about 15 minutes drive from Elbow Lake. It is a very mature 18 hole golf course. Rates are reasonably priced.
Grant County has excellent deer, duck, and goose hunting. It also has seasons for pheasants, and turkey hunting is becoming quite good.
Grant County has Low Plains Drifters that sponsor many miles of trails in and around Grant County. It also connects to Douglas and Otter tail County trails.
Timpsinah Mounds Campground on Pomme De Terre lake is an excellent campground with both seasonal campers and overnight stays. It is owned by the City of Elbow Lake and is very well maintained.
Prairie Wind Players is a theatre located seven miles south in Barrett. It offers several theatre productions during the year. It has been in existence since 1979. The local Roosevelt Hall is also home annually to a week long children’s theatre camp that is put on by Prairie Fire Theatre.
Flekkefest is a Norwegian festival that runs Friday thru Sunday on the first weekend in August. It is a very well attended event that offers options for the whole family to enjoy.
